The new Stonehaven renal unit is designed to provide vital facilities to the community and surrounding areas.
The trust was looking for a comfortable and supportive reclining chair that would support new parents for Kangaroo care. The chair needed to meet several objectives; be easy to move and clean, robust and comfortable, and supportive for all.
Following on from the successful implementation of the Fero recliner relax chair with drop arms in Neonatal, the Matron wanted to trial a Fero with height-adjustable arms in the Labour ward and a height-adjustable Avento in the Maternity Day Unit and canvassed staff and patients for their feedback.
The Fero received many positive endorsements from staff and patients. These were predominantly:
- The compact footprint of the chair as bedside spaces are often cramped
- Easy to move, recline, and manœuvre
- Very comfortable, partners particularly loved the chair
- Staff liked the ability to move the patient in the chair
- Easy to keep clean, with no dirt traps and an easy lift-out seat
The Avento also received many positive endorsements for its comfort and adjustability.
Staff, patients and partners loved the chairs and they made a real difference to their experience
