Introducing our 6E’s ethos

As each of our products begin its journey with us, we apply these principles to every part of the process. From concepts to design, right through to prototypes and final production, our 6E’s are what each of our colleagues abides by — no matter the stage of the journey. This unique approach ensures you have a product designed for healthcare that will truly deliver a better experience for patients, staff, and visitors.

Let’s delve into meaning behind each of the six words that make up our 6E’s ethos…

Easy to use

Adjective [ee-zee]

• not hard or difficult; requiring no great labour or effort.

As per the dictionary definition above, we make sure our products are simple and straightforward to use. Whether you’re a patient, staff member or visitor, our products are there to make your life easier. 

From the easy to remove seat cushions on our Arvada chair, or making sure the height adjustment on our CuraPRO Mild Steel infusion stand can be done with one hand, it’s our priority to make sure our products are easy to operate. 

Ergonomic for comfort

Adjective [ur-guh-nom-ik]

• Designed to be comfortable, safe, and efficient to use, especially in or as a work environment.

Throughout product development, the word ​‘ergonomic’ is at the forefront of our minds. We understand that our products are in constant use so being comfortable, as well as being safe to use, is paramount for staff, patients and visitors alike.

Across a variety of our seating products, thick foam cushions are used to ensure maximum comfort is achieved. In others, height adjustable components, like armrests and chair legs, are incorporated into the product to make sure the chair is usable by all. For example, our Avento patient reclining chair is fully height-adjustable allowing staff to bring the patient up to their height without having to bend over. No more bad backs for staff which in turn leads to reduced absenteeism.

In some cases, we recognise that our seating ranges are used by patients for hours on end, so we know it’s key for our chairs to be comfortable and supportive.

Efficient with results

Along with ​‘easy’ and ​‘ergonomic’, it’s crucial that our products are also ​‘efficient’. The day-to-day tasks carried out in a healthcare environment are some of the most strenuous, pressured and demanding so our products need to live up to this.

Next up in our 6E’s is ​‘equality’. Here at Ocura, we treat everyone as one and this portrays itself through our products.

Right from the beginning of a product’s life, we make sure that everyone can use it. From our multitude of Bariatric products through to our Paediatric range, no matter your age, size or ability, our products are designed with the end user in mind.

Environment first

• the natural world, as a whole or in a particular geographical area, especially as affected by human activity.

Lastly, but certainly not least, we have ​‘environment’. Measuring our impact on the environment is incredibly important to us and as such we’ve developed our Carbon Report.
