This statement applies to Ocura Healthcare Furniture who are committed to eliminating acts of modern slavery and human trafficking within our business and from within our supply chains.
This statement applies to Ocura Healthcare Furniture, who remain committed to eliminating acts of modern slavery and human trafficking within our business and from within our supply chains.
Our annual turnover is under £36 million. Although we are not legally obliged to report on slavery and human trafficking, this statement is made in accordance with section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015. It is our slavery and human trafficking statement for the financial year ending 31st December 2024.
Ocura Healthcare Furniture is a private limited company registered in England and Wales (08824057). We supply hospitals and other healthcare facilities throughout the UK and beyond with furniture and equipment that support the care of patients, their families, and the welfare of healthcare staff.
Our operations include one manufacturing unit and head office in Scotland, and one supporting office and warehouse based in Kent, England.
Our supply chain is primarily based in the UK and Europe, with two additional suppliers located in East Asia. We continue to assess and monitor our suppliers, with particular attention given to regions with elevated risk.
Ocura is committed to ensuring that there is no modern slavery or human trafficking in any part of our business or supply chain. This policy reflects our dedication to ethical practices, integrity, and effective control systems that prevent any form of slavery.
We require all suppliers to acknowledge and comply with our ethical standards, and this expectation is communicated as part of our supplier onboarding and review process.
The following staff-accessible policies support our efforts:
• Equality, Diversity & Inclusion
• Recruitment, Selection & Career Development
• Mental Health & Wellbeing
• Public Interest Disclosures (Whistleblowing)
• Harassment & Bullying
• Anti-Bribery
Additional supporting policies include:
• Modern Slavery Policy
• Child Labour Policy
• Human Rights Policy
• Code of Conduct
While we consider ourselves a low-risk business in relation to modern slavery, we are proactive in maintaining awareness and accountability. All employees are recruited either directly or through reputable agencies that are members of the Recruitment and Employment Confederation. We do not recruit from outside the UK.
We regularly assess risks of modern slavery and human trafficking across our operations and supply chains. Our whistleblowing policy allows employees and partners to report concerns confidentially and without fear of retaliation.
To strengthen our risk management approach, we:
• Monitor and collect compliance statements from all Tier 1 suppliers affirming the absence of slavery in their operations
• Plan to introduce periodic audits or assessments for high-risk suppliers, particularly in East Asia
• Review internal policies and supply chain practices annually to ensure continued alignment with ethical standards
All employees receive training on modern slavery awareness and reporting procedures. In 2024, we updated our training materials to include sector-specific risks and provided refresher courses for senior management and procurement teams.
To measure our effectiveness in preventing modern slavery, we will track the following KPIs in 2025:
• Percentage of employees trained on modern slavery awareness
• Number of suppliers reviewed or assessed against modern slavery criteria
• Whistleblowing reports received and actioned
• Corrective actions implemented for any identified risks
For 2025 and beyond, we aim to:
• Engage suppliers on ethical sourcing best practices
• Ensure all new supplier contracts contain modern slavery clauses
This statement has been approved by the Board of Directors and will be reviewed annually.
