The new Stonehaven renal unit is designed to provide vital facilities to the community and surrounding areas.
With six new operating theatres, state of the art diagnostics and outpatient services in a woodland setting in Ascot, the new hospital will be a flagship facility for Frimley Health. It will be among the very best and most efficient hospitals of its kind in the UK with the potential to double patient activity at Heatherwood over the next 10 years.
Working closely with the Trust, in terms of their vision and requirements, and with our experience with these environments we designed room layouts, proposed furniture and equipment, bid for, and were awarded all the Public and Patient seating, Procedure Couches and supporting equipment.
Our design strategy was one of proposing comfortable public seating across a range of specifications that was not only fit for purpose and supported the needs of Staff and Clinicians, as well as Patients and Visitors, offering flexibility and allowing good through flow and visibility as well as an air of playfulness and one which worked with the modern interior.
Aside from practical considerations in terms of cleaning and comfort the seating needed to be robust and hard wearing, striking a balance between being practical and design led. The finishes worked well with the design strategy, supporting the intended visual impact for the space.
The New Heatherwood Hospital blends with its surrounding landscape perfectly providing stunning woodland views. The interior is full of natural light giving it a modern airy feel and we have no doubt the staff and patients alike will love the space as much as we’ve loved equipping it. The range of furniture supplied was quite varied, from theatre stools to examination couches, patient and public seating, coffee tables and stools. The use of colour throughout the interior supports clear colour mapping for ease of navigation, with blended upholstery colours, creating a calm vibrant modern interior.
On such a big project, it was so helpful to know you had a supplier you could trust to get the job done. We have also had so many compliments on how comfortable the chairs are!
