Rutherford Centre
The reclining chair needed to be comfortable and supportive for patients who could be there for long periods of time. It needed to be easy to use, easy to clean, easy to move and more importantly, should a patient go into anaphylactic shock, go into Trendelenburg position immediately. Proton Partners International wanted a premium product that supported their drive to offer excellence at all levels.
The Approach
Ocura worked in partnership with key stakeholders to understand both patient and clinician requirements. The Toronto recliner, with some bespoke adaptations, was proposed as the most suitable patient recliner. Proton Partners International invited Ocura to trial the chair in their latest Cancer Centre in Thames Valley and initial feedback from all stakeholders was extremely positive.
The Outcome
The Toronto recliner met both staff and patient requirements, with features that support the patients and staff at all levels, such as the gas assisted backdrop, and side opening arms to aid cleaning. Ocura’s Toronto electric recliner was selected as the group’s chair of choice and installed in their new sites in Northumberland and Reading, with Liverpool to follow.
